Dust to Dust Ashes to Ashes

We got Nyah a fish last week that she named fishy....and it didn't make it two days...during breakfast Wednesday morning we watched him go into cardiac arrest turn on his side and float to the top! We have since replaced him four little ones that made it through the weekend. However one of them likes to swim upside down so we are a little concerned! :)

Snow Day!

Last Saturday we went out to Poulsen Ranch to do a little sledding behind four wheelers but getting ready to play in the snow proved to be a much bigger adventure!

We borrowed some of cousin Raegan's snow clothes and tried to buy her some winter gloves we went to three different stores and the best we could come up with was infant size. :)

Nyah didn't care she was ready to get her snow on!

Here she is with Raegs...I'm not sure but I don't think she can put her arms down!

I think she had fun...she didn't move a muscle while we were going...but she sure didn't want to get off.
What a fantastic way to spend a snowy saturday!

Cabin at Sundance

We spent New Years with the Dahle family at a cabin at sundance. It was a blast! Derek got to go snowboarding with the fam while I stayed behind to preserve the mind and body of our unborn child. :( Here is Nyah with Grandpa Dahle.
Nyah had a ball here she is on an amusement park ride called Uncle Darrick's rocket...I'm not sure how much oxygen there is way up there :)
The view was AMAZING! Happy New Year!

Build a Bear

Cousin Heather gave Nyah a gift card for build a bear for Christmas so the next morning we headed out first thing to take care of build a bear business...here she is making her final selection.
She chose a pink unicorn that Derek loving refers to as "the pink nightmare" :)
Nyahs favorite part was blowing it's hair dry and brushing it...when it came time to selecting an outfit I had an anxiety attack because there are 9000 options to choose from and it was stressful! All in all we had a fabulous time...thank you Heather.
Later that night around 10 o' clock after making a Christmas batch of Sher and Nyah crescent rolls that afternoon...Auntie Sher made sugar cookies from scratch and let Nyah cut them into shapes and bake them!
Blue ribbon Auntie for sure!

CHRISTMAS 2009

Christmas Eve morning Sarah and I took the girls to get their picture taken with Santa at the mall. Even though Nyah had been given a really great bear by the jolly old soul she was not all the way convinced...but it was a another good dry run for his visit that night at Grandma Poulsen's!
At the Poulsen Christmas Eve party Nyah ran right up to him and climbed on his lap...no smiles...but we are gaining ground! :) This time Santa surprised her with an ice cream parlor.
Grandma Poulsen being the sewing magician that she is made all the grandkids matching slippers...Nyah being the shoe diva that she is couldn't take her eyes off of them to cheese for the camera. That night Derek and I stayed up putting up Nyahs stocking I mean a ur Santa a anyway...ha...it was weird being on this side of it. My first Christmas eve away from home and setting up Chirstmas myself...I'm such a grown up!
The picture says it ALL Nyah is in LOVE with Christmas...and her new dollhouse! All day she kept saying "Merry Chirstmas Trees!"
We spent the rest of the day at Grandma Dahle's where Nyah opened up an obscene about of presents and was as dilerious as a drunken sailor by the end of the night!

Gingerbread Under Construction

Nyah and I had the neighbors over to make gingerbread houses...now, keep in mind this kit was over two years old and yes the frosting was a little stale...and had a funky smell to it...and yes Nyah did still try to eat the rock hard candy...but I think you'll be impressed what a little stinky frosting and some stale candy can do to a house made from ginger...
So proud!

Really though...impressive...eh?

Little Mother

Nyah loves little babies so she was pleased as punch when Auntie Kellie let her take a turn feeding sweet baby Addison! Yes she is doing it one handed...my talented girl. Ha! She is ready for her little sister!

Dahle Family Christmas Party

Every year we have an extend Dahle family Christmas party and every year Santa makes a surprise visit. Nyah was been very excited about Santa this year and recognized him everywhere...watched lots of Christmas movies...but when the time finally came and he walked in the door she burst into frantic tears and ran for her Dad! So she was put last in line to sit on his lap and cousin Heather let her hand Santa the presents for a little warm up routine before it was her turn.
When her turn finally came her facial expression says it all! Not hysterical but not exactly trusting. Had she known what was in his bag first it might have changed her mind...
A new teddy bear she was sooooooo excited!!! She still calls it her Santa Clause bear and it has a regular rotation spot with the lucky stuffed animals that she sleeps with.

Nyah's First Movie on the The Silver Screen

My friend Sarah and I took the girls to see Princess and the Frog. It was a HUGE hit. Nyah was a little nervous walking into the dark theater and clung to my neck but as soon has her eyes hit the huge screen she took in a huge breath and just about burst! She was sooooo excited movies are tied for second with juice as being her all time favorite thing in this world! (Yes I am looking Preggo these days.)
We got the girls the biggest drinks and popcorn available...they LOVED every second! After leaving Nyah begged to go back for days...she still sometimes asks about it.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was at the Dahle's! It was the most satisfying holiday weekend ever. It had a little bit of everything with a most fabulous holiday spirit flare!
I ran a quick errand thanksgiving morning (after the parade) and when I got back to my mom's house this is what I saw when I walked in...how ADORABLE Nyah was standing on a chair with an oversized apron on making crescent rolls with Auntie Sher. She was in Nyah heaven! She stood there for an hour and a half...

Sher let her roll out the dough, cover it with butter, cut them out, and place them on the tray. At Thanksgiving feast everyone knew which rolls Nyah had made with love because they were a little asymmetrical! Even spraying herself in the face with Pam cooking spray couldn't put a damper on this fun activity!

At dinner however all Nyah ate was one slice of banana from a jello salad! AAAHHHHhhh by picky eater! Later that night Auntie Dee put her back on the chair and she pretended to make Thanksgiving dinner all over again and ended up eating a truck-load (well for her.) Now EVERY time we go to my moms she goes right to the drawer that this apron is stored in and wants to get right to work. I later have to amputate the apron from her body to get her ready for bed! :)
Traditional trimming of the tree...and Black Friday ads filled up our evening...however I have to say that Black Friday was highly disappointing this year and we ending up sleeping in! When we did finally make it out all of the sales and bloodshed were over. Oh well there is always next year. :)

Later Black Friday we went to the tree lot to get a fresh cut charlie brown tree for all the handmade ornaments from our childhood. OOoooohhh I love the smell of fresh cut trees!
